William Frederick Bateman, 80, ran out of projects and died December 21, 2006. He was born December 27, 1925 in Salina, PA to Charles and Rozella Fennell Bateman. After graduating from high school in New Kensington, PA, Bill enlisted and was based at Pampa Army Air Field at WWII ended. He later graduated from Pennsylvania State University, and joined the Air Force. He worked as a physicist at Applied Research Laboratory at University of Texas from 1954-1981 except for some employment at Tracor. After retirement, he always had one or more projects to do. Survivors include a son, Mark R. Bateman of Mountain View, CA; sister, Bernice Harshberger and her husband Wayne of Beaufort, NC; brother-in-law, Jack K. Fowler; several nieces and nephews; and long time Austin friends, Gene Mikeska and Jean Cornelius. Bills parents and other siblings, Faye Fowler and Charles O. Bateman, Jr. preceded him in death.
