

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a surveyor during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Labrador and Washington State.
As a civilian he lived in El Paso, where he raised his family till 1975 at which time he moved his family to Austin. On September 24, 1983 he married Jeanette Hurley combining the two families. It was at this time he became a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, D. I., and his oldest grandson, Josh Samuelson.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette McCombs; daughter, Deborah Samuelson (Martin); daughter, Robin Beatty (Mark); son, Alan McCombs; sons, Steven Hurley, Randal Hurley (Joanne), Andrew Hurley (Leslie), and Bradley Hurley; daughter, Nanette Zahler (Kurt); sister, Omega Harkins; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on North Lamar from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:00 noon in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Elgin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
