

William Sievert William Sievert, age 82, of Austin, passed away early Sunday morning, August 15, 2004. Bill was born on January 19, 1922, in Galveston, Texas, one of three children and the only son of William and Emma Wilhelmina Sievert. He attended the University of Texas and served in the Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot over Italy in the Second World War. He continued to serve in the US Air Force Reserves, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He married Mary Medina in 1950 and they made their first home in La Marque. They later moved to Austin in 1959, where he and Mary made their permanent home and raised their children. Bill worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in a managerial capacity and supported telecommunications for the Texas White House in the 1960s. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting and fishing with numerous close friends. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary, two children, Lynette and Bill, Jr., daughter-in-law, Jennifer and two grandchildren, Katherine and Lachlan. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Tucker and the caring staff at Southwest Regional Cancer Center.
