I am so sorry to hear that Bill has passed. I remember him as "Sixpak" from softball days where he was a great umpire, friend, and man. I enjoyed working with him back in those days. May you find peace and comfort through God's love and blessings.

Dear Peggy,    We are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  I remember playing softball with him on the Sea Horse Car Wash team in the 60's with my dad, Bill Rountree.  SixPak was so nice and a lot of fun.  We always enjoyed the times we spent at the ballpark with y'all.  God bless you Peggy.

Well, I tried to post something earlier but I guess it didn't make it past the censors!  Linda and I are still in shock from the news of Bill's passing.  We will always remember him (who could ever forget him) because he was one of the nicest, most dynamic people Linda and I have ever met.  We knew him for over 30 years and I can only remember him being less than TOTALLY upbeat less than a handful of times.  Right now we're feeling so sorry for Peggy, his family and his billions and billions of friends which we're happy to say included us!

We were so lucky to see Billy Ray a couple of times recently. We'll miss him but remember him well.

Can't say it any better than the previous comment.  Bill was as genuine a person as I ever met.  Known him since the post office days.  No one had a quicker wit.  Or smile.  God bless.

Bill was an example of how we should all approach life and each other.  We are all blessed to have know him.  He is sorely missed.

I have never know a man so beloved by so many people.Always upbeat, ready to crack a joke,  and smiled so much I thought it was tattooed on his face. A  man who felt humor, generosity, and compassion were the hall marks of the path a man should walk. Gone too soon and leaving an unfillable void in the lives of so many people. Bill told me over and over again since 1986 when we met....that if he passed at that very moment he'd have no complaints. It had been a great ride, a great life. Never waivered from that thought.. even in  the many good and bad times we shared. A bench mark in my life. My heart goes out to Peg and all the family that he loved and that loved him. I first met Bill when I became a letter carrier in 1964, at the Main Post Office in Austin.  I played softball with him, and played in games later that he umpired.  I last talked to Bill a few years ago after seeing a TV ad for the mattress store, and I picked up the phone and called him.  The picture is a good memory of how I remember him. I was really saddened to hear that Bill has passed away. He was such a great person. Genuine, friendly and kind are just a few words to describe him. He helped a lot of folks over the years and did so with honor and dignity. For those of us lucky enough to have known him around the mattress industry, he was a great example of how to do it right.
