Yvonne Elizabeth van der Schaaf

She was born in Helmond in the Netherlands on October 28, 1923. Yvonne grew up in Holland and married her husband Henk in 1951. After the birth of her first child in 1952, she went to Venezuela. In 1961 she immigrated with her family to the United States and became a US citizen in 1967. She lived in Saginaw (MI), Valley Cottage (NY), Lakeland (FL) followed by 13 years in Houston (TX) and 4 years in Stavanger (Norway). After living in Norway she and her husband retired from Conoco Phillips in the latter part of 1986 and settled in Lago Vista, TX. Yvonne was an amazing mother, wife and hostess. She was an excellent homemaker and seamstress, and was always quick to laugh with an outstanding sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henk and her son Hans van der Schaaf. She is survived by her daughter Trix Hensley and her husband John of Houston, TX, her daughter Anneke Kelly of Cedar Park, and her daughter in law Brenda van der Schaaf of Richmond. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chelsea van der Schaaf Montero, Breanna van der Schaaf, Jason Kelly, Lauren Hensley Tyler, Ryan Kelly, Reid Hensley, and Allison Kelly Washburn. In addition, she is survived by eight great grandchildren. Furthermore, she is survived by her step grandson Steven Hensley. Yvonne is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Yvonne’s ashes will be inurned in the Garden of the Cross next to her son Hans and her husband Henk at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX.
