Kay is survived by her children André (Monique Legault) and Michelle (Jean-François David); her grandchildren Cassandra (Andrew), Alexandre, Maxim, Vincent (Ramina), Katrine, and Emily (Émilie); her great-grandchildren Roman, Poppy, Leo, and Ellinia; and her sister, Linda Gauthier.
Mom followed her beloved husband and soulmate of almost 70 years, Georges, just 11 days after his passing. Theirs was truly a love story for the ages, and it is comforting to think of them reunited once again. As Kay continues on this next stage of her journey, she is also reunited with her son, Daniel; her parents, Pearl and Bert; her sisters, Joyce and Gladys; and her brother, Bert. Though she will be deeply missed by all who loved her, we can take comfort in imagining her surrounded once more by those who went before her.
Our mom was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a warm and loving person whose kindness shaped our lives growing up. Friendly and outgoing, she could strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime, anywhere. She made friends wherever she went. Making connections came naturally to her. She had a way of making people feel welcome, and she never let anything stand in the way of reaching out to others.
Mom loved music. She loved listening to it, and if there was a beat playing, she simply couldn’t sit still. Even as Alzheimer’s took so much from her, it could never take away her love of music. She could still recall the lyrics to her favourite songs, and she continued to sing—not only to comfort herself, but to bring comfort to those around her. Music remained part of her to the end, a familiar and comforting connection to the person she had always been.
And finally, Mom had a deep love for family and an unwavering belief in its importance. She was always there for the people she loved, offering her support in whatever way they needed it. She was a devoted and involved grandmother who absolutely adored her grandchildren. She took a genuine interest in their lives, celebrated their accomplishments, and supported their choices and dreams without hesitation or judgment. No matter what path they chose, they could always count on her love and support.
We love you, Mom. You will always be with us.
The family would like to thank the Aylmer CHSLD for its wonderful care, particularly Nadia and Sandra. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice in her memory.
