Adrienne M. Usher, 78, of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn passed away in West Babylon, NY on July 9, 2017. Adrienne was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 20, 1938 to Lydell and Edith Usher. She attended Madison High School, graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Rutgers University in Library Science.
Adrienne worked as a librarian for the Brooklyn Public Library System for over 40 years.
She is remembered by the many children who were first introduced to the art of storytelling and her love of books. Anyone who knew her knew that she was quite the animated and talented storyteller. Adrienne played a vital role in the upbringing of her 7 nieces and nephews and is remembered by them for her love of life including but not limited to her fashion, jewelry, gardening, cooking, entertaining, reading, storytelling, music, and the arts. Her sisters remember her avid sewing abilities and all of her own clothing that she made.
She loved to travel and has been to so many places in the United States and around the world. Her favorite trips included the British Isles, Paris France, and Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark). For her summer vacations she loved to spend time in the family country home located in Burlingham, NY where she spent her days doing her favorite pastimes named above. It gave her great pleasure to entertain both in her home in Brooklyn and the country home upstate, continuously inviting friends and family to come together.
Adrienne is survived by her sisters Lydia and Barbara, Barbara’s husband Edgar, and her 7 nieces and nephews; Marie Hines-Cowan and her husband Chris Cowan, Timothy Jinks and his wife Renee, Ellen Hines-Molina, Robert L Hines, David Hines and his wife Ann, Katherine Jinks Hannan and her husband Keith Hannan, and Andrew Jinks. She is also survived by her 9 great nieces and nephews, Sarah Molina, 19, Asia Jinks, 18, Hunter Hines, 17, Dustin Hines, 15, Nailah Jinks, 14, Mia Hines, 14, Raephael Hines, 12, Reign Hines, 9, Najee Jinks, 9, Kaeden Hannan, 8, Kiara Hannan, 7, and Makari Hines, 5.
