Dear Mom,

I don’t even know where to start. I miss you more than words can express. Life without you seems impossible. I am absolutely heartbroken, lonely, and lost. You were my entire world. You were my best friend, my rock, my confidant, my cheerleader, my advice giver, my shopping buddy, my cleaning buddy and so much more. I would do anything to spend more time with you, to hear your voice, and to hear your laugh. 

You were the best mom anyone could of asked for. Jen and I were so incredibly lucky that God chose you to be our mom. Juliana was blessed to have you as her Mema. She misses you so much. You were like a second mother to her. I promise that I won’t let her forget you. I promise to raise her as you would. I don’t know if I will ever be as good of mother as you were, because you set the bar so high, but I will spend everyday trying to be. 

I am so sorry that you got sick. I am so sorry that your life was cut short. You deserved so much happiness, you deserved the world. If I could of taken away your suffering, I would of.  I am angry at the disease, the doctors, the surgeons, but not you. You were a warrior. Your strength and resilience is something to be admired. You fought with every ounce of your being to stay here with us. 

Mom, you were a ray of sunshine and you had the soul of an angel. Losing you has been the hardest thing that has ever happened to me. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Even though you aren’t physically here, your heart is and it will live on within us. We carry your heart inside ours. Someday we will meet again, but until that day always remember that your heart is with us. Some hearts just belong together and nothing will ever change that. We loved you then, we loved you now, always did, always will, forever in our minds, forever in our hearts, we will carry you. 

I love you to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond, forever and always.

Diane was my moms best friend.  The two of them we’re inseparable.  I known her my whole life,  she was at very one of our parties and birthdays.  She always lit up a room with gorgeous smile.  She was the most generous sweetest woman.  I’m so grateful to have had her in our lives.  She will be so missed and her memory will live long forever. 💔🙏🏻

You have the most wonderful warm family that loved you dearly. You were an amazing loving wife, mother & grandma. You also were loved dearly from friends we grew up with from Rosedale. I always admired you Diane . You were so beautiful inside & out. It is with such sadness that you suffered so much and it was not fair at all. But now you are out of pain & eternally at peace. I know you will be watching over your family every minute of each day . 
Last night as I visited you at your funeral , I seen the pain & grief of Gerry , your daughters & your family. The love in that room last night was so overwhelming.
May you also know that you were cherished by many because of who you were. You will be carried in each of your daughters hearts & also your dear husband who adored you . Your grandchildren will never forget you because there moms will carry on all the memories & traditions you created .Rest peacefully my friend.🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️

You lit up every room you walked into and brightened everyone's life that knew you.  I listen to your voice mails just so I can here your voice. Aunt Diane,
Some of my favorite memories as a child are seeing you dance, and dancing with you; your signature moves went with anything that played - and even if they didn’t, you made it seem like they did.  I love your voice and your laugh.  I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone with more style than you.  Most of all, I love your confidence - no matter what was going on around you, you followed your heart and didn’t worry about the rest.  You loved with your whole heart, everyone around you felt truly loved by you, and everyone loved you dearly in return. I hope you felt as loved as we did by you.   I love you

You are the kindest, gentlest, caring and  most loving person anyone has met. There is not a single negative thing that anyone can say about you, even if they tried! You were mom's Yin to her Yang and you are the only one I know that can soften her up :) You have left a hole in the hearts of anyone who has met you, or even heard stories of you. You will forever be missed and loved. xoxoxo

You’ve touched so many lives and I know so many people are hurting now that you’re gone. You were truly an angel here on earth and I know you’re a shining star in heaven. I hope you are at peace now and reunited with all of our family members in heaven. I hope you’re looking down on us and continuing to guide us each and everyday. I hope you still feel the love we all have for you  and I hope to see you again someday.

Mom,

There are no words to explain my sadness and devastation. I have a heavy heart as I think of life without you. I no longer feel complete. There’s a giant piece of me missing that I’ll never get back. There’s a painful hole in my heart that will never heal. 

I’m sorry that you got sick and you had to endure all of the struggles and suffering over the years. I’m sorry that your life got cut short by this terrible disease. You had so much life ahead of you. You were supposed to grow old with dad in your new home, go to your grandchildren’s weddings, and meet your great grandchildren. That’s the life you deserved. You deserved so much more because you are an incredible person. You are the most loving and giving person I’ve ever met in my life. You would do anything for anyone and I find it so unfair that this happened to you. 

My heart physically aches as I think of life without you. I think of birthdays, holidays, and traditions that you’ve created that you will no longer be here for. Life will never be the same. 

Ellie and Zachary are completely heartbroken. They keep talking to you up in heaven and waiting for you to respond. They’ve been drawing pictures and writing letters to you nonstop. They’ve been whispering “I love you” to pictures of you around the house. They just adored you. You were like a second mother to them and their love for you will be endless. I promise to remind them of you and the beautiful memories each and every day. You were their world. 

You were the greatest mom anyone could ever ask for. I thank god that he blessed me with you as my mother. I’m so lucky to have had you mold me into the woman and mother I am today because I learned from the best. I needed so many more years of your guidance and love though mom. I needed your 10 daily phone calls, your therapy sessions, your constant companionship, and your embrace. I’m lost with you. I’m lost without my best friend. I thank you for everyone you’ve done for me

I will always remember Diane’s big bright smile. She was always ready to listen or offer help in any situation. Her office at the wound care center was like the psychiatry office. You are the kindest, gentlest, most caring and loving person! There's not a negative thing to say about you, and that's not an exaggeration.  You and mom had such an amazing friendship that I adored. You were her yin to her yang and probably one of the only people that could soften her up 😊 even though I didn't see you as often as she did, I still felt a great connection through you. You will forever be missed and everyone who has met you has a huge hole in their heart that can never be filled.

My beautiful Diane,
I met Diane in J.H.S 231 when we were 12 years old.. from day one we were inseparable. The fun & laughs were constant. We didn’t go anywhere without each other! Everywhere we went we had fun!
My fond memories were walking to Green Acres, hitch hiking to a few places 😳 rock away beach & meeting the boys at my house or the park.. ( Sorry girls me & mom were wild ) Those were the days
Not a care in the world! Then after all her boyfriends & there were a lot 😂 she met the Love of her Life Jerry Malhstad! They were inseparable! Jerry was older but just as lovable as he is today! She met her man.. so we hung out with the older guys... Jerry had lots of brothers some me & Diane were scared of.. but we got to know & loved them.. we loved talking to Jerry’s mom she would get a kick out of us.Diane & Jerry got married which was such a happy & beautiful day. My best friend getting married to the best guy ever!
Then the babies came Janine & Jennifer
Diane loved her life, she loved becoming Mema to Ellie, Zack & Juliana. I could see her face beaming as I’m writing this..
Every morning we spoke around 8ish until we got interrupted lol
We spoke about everything! So I know everyone’s business & she knew all of mine! Boy, could me & Diane shop! Click we got it... mostly for our grandkids. Money was not an object..
I’m tearing up now

I know that you are no longer suffering or in anymore pain, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that you are now gone. I will miss you until we meet again, my beautiful aunt. My beautiful, Aunt Diane. There are not enough word’s to describe the pain and sadness that is in my heart right now. There is a huge void in my life now that you are not here and I don’t think it will ever heal. You were like a second mother to me and for that I am grateful, your love had no limit’s. I’am beyond grateful for the beautiful memories that I have made with you throughout the year’s. From every holiday @ your house( especially Christmas and your delicious vanilla cupcakes that were my absolute favorite ), to special occasions, you did it all and always with a smile on your face. You were there for me through my first breakup when I spent the weekend @ your house cause, I was to upset to be home and we spent almost the whole night talking about my breakup. You were especially there for me throughout my MANY Hospital visit’s and there were many!! As much as I hated being in the Hospital it was because, of you that kept me going. Your constant encouragement and advice helped me more than you would ever know when I was sick. I would always say to myself, “If Aunt Diane could endure what she is going through than I can do this”. I can still hear you saying, “Melissa, I know you are scared being in the Hospital and you don’t wanna do this but, Aunt Di does the same thing and get’s scared to but, we have to do this”. I’ll never receive another text message asking me if I followed up with my Doctor’s or hear my Aunt Diane asking my mom, “How is Melissa feeling”? I will especially cherish and hold dear to my heart, our weekly phone conversations. I truly did enjoy and love our weekly talk’s. I looked forward to them every week just to check in and chat for 20mins. Aunt Diane, you were my biggest Cheerleader ( I always got so excited to tell you when something great happened to me ), my Therapist and overall an amazing aunt a niece could ever ask for. I wake up every morning saying, “that this is all a nightmare” but than I realize that this is my “new normal”.

To my beautiful Aunt and Godmother whom I love so, so dearly. I can not begin to express the crushing pain I feel knowing you are not here with us anymore in body. The Christmas Eve's at your house and the pajamas you always gifted me will be a treasured memory I will keep till we meet again. The only solace I have through all of this is knowing you walk with The Lord amongst the other angels. They'll have some fierce competition because you were truly an angel on earth. So kind, sweet and understanding. You and Uncle Jerry taught me what ture love looks like and how it fills a house and makes it a home.   I vow to always be there for those you loved. 

I will love you and think about you till my last breath my beautiful auntie.

I met your mom was I was little. She was my sisters friend, clubbing partner and probably partner in crime!!! They would all meet at my house and go out with my brother Ronnie. He passed away too. She was always so nice and beautiful. Now Ronnie and her can go dancing together. I am so sorry for your loss. She was too young and was supposed to have more time with you, Gerry and her grandchildren. I am so sorry for you loss. May she Rest In Peace.🙏

Diane was such a beautiful person inside and out. We met many years ago while working at South Nassau Communities Hospital. She was always very positive and helpful to me and many others.  No matter what was going on in her life she always had a smile on her face and remained positive. Sending up prayers of healing, comfort and strength for her entire family. May she RIP in peace, May God bless her soul, AMEN.

Oh I was little when I first met your mom. She was my sisters fiend, clubbing partner, probably partner in crime!!!  I remember her and all their fiends meeting at my house getting ready to leave with my brother Ronnie. Ronnie passed away too.  She was always sweet. She  and Ronnie can go dancing together now!!! Thank you for all of the great memories we have shared throughout my life. Thank you for all of our side conversations and the support you provided to me, without knowing how much it was appreciated. I will miss seeing your fun Christmas outfits at grandma Mickey's.  I dont think I have ever seen anyone look as amazingly beautiful, as you did, through the hardest fights...although, Aunt Maxine has definitely been your competition. I will forever admire your strength.

As our family gains another angel, you will now rest peacefully and pain free. You will truly be missed until we meet again. 💔

My Dearest/Beautiful/Loving Sister, Diane. There are not enough word’s to describe the heartache and sadness that I’am enduring over your loss. When I think back on your life, I remember you for the loving, caring, selfless, strong, sweet woman that you were. I have so MANY beautiful memories of you and us. From when we were kids going to Grandpa’s house upstate to shopping and hanging out with the girl’s. You were my backbone through thick and thin with me. From happy to sad moment’s. My dearest auntie, I have so many wonderful memories with you but my absolute favorite would be coming over your house Christmas Eve and eating your delicious Christmas cookies and Christmas cupcakes and hearing you say “ take, take, take!” “Auntie baked these just for you.” And then hearing you say “Matthew did you take your desserts?” “I know you look forward to these every year.” Aunt Diane, you couldn’t have been more accurate. Just knowing I was going to see you was a huge blessing and knowing that I was your nephew was an even bigger one. Not a moment goes by that you don’t cross my mind with a memory, or me hearing your voice or something silly and as little as a smell. The love I have for you is just so indescribable. Diane, Gerry, Janine and Jennifer become a second family to my mom when she lived with them in VS for which I am ever grateful.  Our lives intertwined in other ways, work, Christmas at VS. Diane truly was an angel on earth who will never be forgotten. May the hole in your hearts be quickly filled with beautiful, happy memories of a most special lady whose indelible mark is left in our hearts forever.
