
Luise Mae Lutz, of West Islip, New York, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of Robert Lutz. Devoted mother of Donna Burkard (Stewart), Eric Lutz (Renee'), and Kurt Lutz (Kathleen). Cherished grandmother of Timothy, Arianna, Craig, Emily, Kristopher, Ryan, Andrew, Natalia, and Chance. Proud great-grandmother of Kingsley Grace and Elenora Mae. She is also survived by her loving sister, Marjorie Schanstra.
Luise dedicated her professional life to education as a sixth-grade teacher in the Babylon School District, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students throughout her career.
A woman of deep faith and service, Luise was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She devoted her time and talents to the Homemakers and Women's Circle groups and was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Among her many hobbies, she especially enjoyed crocheting and creating handmade treasures for family and friends.
Above all else, Luise treasured her family. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, performances, and activities. Whether cheering from the sidelines or celebrating their accomplishments, she was their biggest supporter and greatest fan. Her love, encouragement, and unwavering presence will be remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 33 Bay Shore Road, Deer Park, NY 11729. Private cremation will follow.
Luise's kindness, faith, devotion to family, and dedication to her community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
