Madeline Colcord, born in Brooklyn and a longtime resident of Babylon, NY, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the age of 94 years 7 months. Those who love her will always remember her strong and generous nature.
Madeline grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, the daughter of Rosario and Mary Angione, and older sister to Frank and Vincent. As a girl she traveled upstate with her family and loved the fresh air of the countryside. While working in NYC she met Warren R. Colcord, and they married in Niagara Falls NY. In 1959 she bought a home in Babylon Village, and moved her family from the city to Long Island.
With a keen eye for style and fashion, Madeline held an active career in sales for many years. She worked in New York City, and on Long Island for Gimbels, Macy’s, JC Penny, and Time Square Stores.
Madeline enjoyed the arts and loved the Big Bands of her era, as a young woman she’d often attend dances and concerts. Some of her favorite artists were Tony Bennett and Perry Como. As an adult, she liked seeing plays and musicals, and enjoyed traveling with friends and family locally, and later abroad to Italy and Greece. She always made sure to enjoy life.
Madeline is predeceased by her husband Warren, and her brother Frank.
She is survived by her three daughters, Diana Carbocci (m. Gary Carbocci), Ellen Colcord (m. David Schroeder), and Mariann Simone (m. Philip Simone), as well as three grandchildren; Jannine, Adam, and Gabrielle, three great-grandchildren; Michael, Diego, and Kaylee, and one great-great granddaughter; Brynn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
We have been guided and blessed by her strong will, commitment, and the love she dedicated to her family. A tree will be planted in Argyle Park, Babylon Village, to honor and cherish her love of the outdoors.
In memory of Madeline Colcord, donations may be made to the Babylon Fire Department Rescue Squad, who she greatly appreciated in life.
Memorial held at Boyd’s Funeral Home on Sunday Feb.11, 2018 from 2:00-5:00pm, Service at 3:30pm.
