It is with a heavy heart that the entire Barone family announce the passing of our dad, Nick Barone. We mourn his passing with sadness but we also celebrate an amazing life well lived on his own terms.
Dear Dad,
I've been thinking about your long life and all that you saw;
The 2nd world war was up close and personal . Nazi's occupying your hometown in Potenza and B17s in formation filling the sky and bombing them out, you and your young friends playing soccer with Allied POWs.
Leaving a worn torn country in your early 20's to find your future in Canada . Getting along very well in Montreal because you were fluent in French since grade school.
Staying in Canada and working for Ford, Toronto transit and other companies and learning the queen's English.
Meeting the love of your life who was vacationing from Brooklyn NY with her friends and as it turned out they were all also your friends from your village of Barile, Italy.
Moving to Long Island after marrying and eventually buying a beautiful house in North Babylon that you meticulously maintained for the next 57 years.
Proudly working for Grumman for over 35 years. Raising your 3 children Michael, Frank & Terese.
Watching us all get married and giving you 5 amazing Grandchildren: Michele James Jenna, Nick & Chris.
Losing the love of your life 6 long years ago.
Living an amazing 94 years as only you could and leaving too many memories to list. And most importantly leaving us all on your own terms, but never really leaving us as we have so many memories that will keep you near us for as long as we remain.
Love you with all my heart dad, through teary eyes I hope I end up being half the man you were and that whenever it ends for me that I can look back at a life as well lived as you did - and everything, That's It.
