Born in the County of Limerick, Ireland, Nora carried the strength, warmth, and spirit of her Irish roots throughout her life. After coming to America in her early twenties, she began a beautiful new chapter — one that would be defined by faith, family, and service. Soon after arriving, she married the love of her life, Peter P. Corcoran, and together they shared 64 years of devoted marriage.
Nora was a loving and devoted mother to Catherine (James) Rafferty, Peter M. Corcoran (Patricia), and Michael Corcoran (Andrea). Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in each of her children.
She was a cherished grandmother to Brianna Blaskey (Steve), Sean Rafferty, Ryan Rafferty, Connor Corcoran, and Charlotte Corcoran, and a proud great-grandmother to Brayden Blaskey.
Nora is also survived by her loving sister Maureen Leahy.
Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family. Through the Suffolk County Department of Social Services, Nora became a foster mother to more than 30 infants, offering them safety, tenderness, and a loving start in life. She later continued her life’s calling as a professional nanny, caring for countless children with the same patience and devotion that defined her motherhood. To many, she was not just a caregiver, but a source of comfort, stability, and unconditional love.
Nora will be remembered for her gentle strength, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to others. Her life was a quiet testament to service, kindness, and the power of a loving home. Nora’s legacy lives on in every life she touched.
