Robert Estrada of Babylon, Long Island, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Mary, loving father of Robert and Edward, and cherished grandfather of Sydney, Bobby, Harry and Teddy. Bob was born in New York City on January 31, 1943 and soon after graduating high school began to work for TransWorld Airlines, which led to a professional career of traveling the world with various airlines, but much more importantly led him to meet Mary, his wife of 47 years. Work brought them to live in England, Saudi Arabia, and Kansas before settling back in Babylon. Once back in New York, Bob championed minority-owned businesses in the construction industry, helped many small businesses expand, and left a lasting legacy through his work establishing the Peace Corps in Honduras. He was most proud of his family and happiest when surrounded by, and laughing with, family and friends. He is remembered fondly by those who knew him.
Bob will be remembered at the Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702 on Friday, February 3 from 2:00PM to 4:30PM and then from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, and at a mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 39 North Carll Avenue, Babylon, New York 11702 on Saturday, February 4 at 10:00AM.
