

A proud Army veteran, Tom honorably served his country between 1958 - 1959 during the Korean and Vietnam War eras and served four years in the active reserve. He carried that same devotion and discipline throughout his life.

Born in Harlem. and raised in Astoria, New York. Tom attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and later graduated from Power Memorial High School. He was known for his beautiful penmanship and artistic ability, he was known for being a man who valued craftsmanship and care in all things.
A proud second-generation electrician with Local #3 IBEW, Tom followed in the footsteps of his father, Thomas F. McCann, and passed on the family legacy to his son, Thomas F., as a third-generation tradesman.
Tom was a man of many passions—an avid reader, golfer, and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and antiquing. He loved a good garage sale and never passed up a bargain. Generous and loyal, Tom had a knack for helping others—if you asked him for advice or a tool, he'd give you more than you needed, always with a smile.
The family will receive visitors at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702 on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, 39 N Carll Avenue, Babylon, NY 11702. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
