Thomas J. McGurk, (Tom) 81, of West Babylon, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 2, 2024. Tom was born to the late James and Alice Morris McGurk on May 28, 1943, in New York, NY. He graduated from Saint Helena High School in 1961. Tom served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1965.
He married Andrea Fager on August 26, 1967, at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Babylon, NY. Tom and Andrea lived in West Babylon, where they raised their two children, TJ and Tammy.
Tom’s greatest pleasures were his two children and five grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play softball, hockey, soccer, Irish dance, tennis, basketball, and lacrosse.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Andrea of 57 years; his daughter Tammy Comstock and her husband Michael; his daughter-in-law Christy McGurk; his brother James McGurk and his wife Linda; and his grandchildren Emily, Meghan, Morgan, Sean, and Logan. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Bossong, Sr., and nephews James McGurk (Alicia), Michael McGurk (Veronica), Robert McGurk (Allison), and Thomas Bossong, Jr. (Dana).
Tom was predeceased by his son, TJ McGurk; his sister, Alice McGurk; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Bossong; and his niece, Elizabeth Bossong.
Visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 and Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 39 North Carll Avenue, Babylon, NY.
Tom will be laid to rest at North Babylon Cemetery, with Military Honors.
