3 quick Uncle Jimmy stories....we were playing ball and it went on his roof, I went to jump up on the window sill to get it and I put my knee through the bedroom window. I will cherish that scar forever.  Uncle Jimmy was building Uncle Joe's garage, which was between my house and his house. They were pouring Cement, being the curious kid I was, I got too close and fell into the Cement! Lastly, he had a huge tree in the front yard that all the kids would climb, it was a famous tree in the neighborhood. Well, one day I said I would finally climb it! I did it! Big problem was I was too afraid to climb down. All my friends were yelling to me, you climbed up you can climb down! I couldn't do it. They had to go get my dad to get me down off Uncle Jimmys tree. I was so embarrassed 😳 Rest In Peace Uncle

My Uncle Jimmy was a fabulous person, his care and love of family was one of the most important things in his life.  He's love of life and how much he enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. I don't think I ever saw him, when he wasn't smiling and he always had some great jokes and stories. I am blessed for the time I had to share with him and have so many wonderful memories.


	  Cousin Jimmy was my idol! I remember him coming to Nona’s house on 57th Street sometime after the war at Christmas in 1947 or 48. I was about 5 or 6. He looked amazing in his U.S Army Paratrooper uniform. I remember the parachute insignia on his cap, the uniform, his shiny jump boots. Years later at Raven Hall Pool in Coney Island they set up a number of punching bags just inside the fence for all the bathers to use. It attracted the crowds walking along Surf Avenue. I can still hear the rhythmic sound of that speed bag when Cousin Jimmy put on a display for the passersby who stopped to watch in admiration. I knew I wanted to be just like him! 
	The last time I saw him I brought him a new copy of my book “Brooklyn Family Scenes” he loved and read so many times the pages had fallen out. I told him he was my hero, that I remain in awe of him for being the man he has always been. Cousin Jimmy loved and was loved in return. Rest in peace, dear Cousin, my idol still, the end of an era.
