Bruce Wayne Jones died unexpectedly in his Bakersfield, CA home on Monday, September 5, 2011. He was born December 20, 1951 to Jay and Ruby Jones in Springfield, MO. Bruce had a lifelong career in Oilfield operations working for a number of companies including Santa Fe Energy, Monterey Resources, Texaco, and Chevron. He retired from Chevron in January of 2011. Bruce was very athletic in his youth and as an adult. He played Football, Track, and Baseball in high school and continued his love and involvement with sports as an adult. Bruce also loved photography and history, and one of his favorite pastimes was watching sports, especially any form of auto racing. Over the course of his life Bruce lived in Republic, MO, Springfield, MO, Taft, CA, and Bakersfield, CA. He always considered Republic to be his home and lived in Bakersfield to stay close to his children and grandchildren. Bruce had a great sense of humor, was fun-loving, and generally enjoyed life. His friends and family loved his playful and ornery nature. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed time with them. He was very actively involved with the sporting activities of his children throughout his life. Bruce is survived by his sons, Brian Jones and Bradley Jones, his grandchildren, Andrew Jones, Hannah Jones, Brady Jones, Ava Jones, and Gidget Jones, and his brothers and sister, Ronald Jones, Dean Jones, Richard Jones, and Sandy Oster (Jones). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his lifelong friends Tommy and Debbie Demanche, Karen Moule, and Sharon Jalving. Bruce was always grateful for the help and kindness given to him by Jennifer Jones (Black) during his various illnesses. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Mish Funeral Home. Anyone who knew Bruce would know that he would want everyone to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death.
