

Chuck Clements lost his battle with cancer on Monday, June 27, 2011 and passed away peacefully with his wife and loving family at his side. Chuck was born in Chickasha, Oklahomain 1942, one of six children, to Clarence and Arthena Burmeister Clements. At a young age his family moved to California. They settled in Bakersfield when he was 14 and he attended and graduated from South High School in1960. He volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to1964, stationed aboard the LST U.S.S. Wexford County. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Upchurch Clements in 1963. After his service discharge he was employed by Kern High School District in the Data Processing Department in Bakersfield in 1964. He spent 33 years with KHSD and retired as Director of Data Processing in 1998. During his career he prided himself in keeping KHSD on the "cutting edge" of technology, developing and implementing many innovative computer services for the district. After retirement, he and wife Linda enjoyed extensive RV travels and in 2007 made their home in Tehachapi,CA.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, by his sister Kenzada Johnston, his father-in-law Lloyd Upchurch, his sister-in-law Jeannie Upchurch and grandmother by marriage, Lavena Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Clements, his daughters Lisa(David Feeney) of Oxnard, CA, Lori(James Moore) of Tehachapi, CA, mother-in-law Jewel Upchurch of Bakersfield, grandchildren Mikayla Moore, Justin Moore and Liam Feeney. He is also survived by brothers Bill Clements of Oregon, Wes (Nancy)Clements of Bakersfield, sisters Modeen (Gerald) Walters of Oregon, and Marcia (Phil) Williams of Buttonwillow,CA, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and good friends,and his special companion "BubbaDog". He was an extremely proud and patriotic veteran. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother, uncle, and good friend to many. He loved to socialize and was known for his limitless number of jokes and stories. His greatest joys were doting on his grandchildren, his RV travels, watching and attending NASCAR races supporting his favorite driver, Kevin Harvick, and visiting with friends and relatives.
Visitation and viewing will beTuesday, July 5, 2011 from 4-8 PM at Mish Funeral Home in Bakersfield, Hisl ife will be celebrated Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 9:00 AM at Mish FuneralHome, Bakersfield and interment immediately following at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
