André Mercier

The death of André Mercier of Balmoral occurred Sunday, January 17th, 2021 at the Regional Hospital in Campbellton at the age of 52. Born in Balmoral, he was the son of Jean-Guy Mercier and Adrienne Bernard. André was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He worked for many years at the wharf in Dalhousie as a stevedore. He loved spending time in the woods as he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He liked playing music where he played at many events in the region. He had a good sense of humor and people enjoyed listening or dancing to his songs. He operated Bear's Den for a couple of years as a guide for bear hunting in the South East. André is survived by his wife Patricia Lapointe, his son Nathan Mercier his grand-daughter Constance Mercier (who will greatly miss her pépére), his brother Luc Mercier (Cynthia Aubut), his sister Nadine Mercier (Shane Good), his mother-in-law Frances (the late Emery) Lapointe, his sister-in-law Nancy (Allen) Black and brother-in-law Garth Lapointe. He also leaves to mourn his nephews and nieces Jade Mercier, Jacob Mercier, Nolan Good and Layla Good, Jeremy (Tabitha), Danica (Dustin) and Kavin. He also leave 2 great nephews Dax and Weston and 1 great niece Delilah André had started a project to install a memorial or plaque at the airport in Budworm City to commemorate the pilot of a plane spraying D.D.T. in 1957 where due to a malfunctioning motor crashed leaving behind his wife and 6 boys all aged under 10 years old. André succeeded in tracing members of this pilot's family from Oregon, U.S.A. They were scheduled to come to Canada on June 20th of last year but had to postpone the event due to the Covid-19. Let's hope that André's project will be a reality in the very near future once the pandemic is behind us. Il était le fils de Jean-Guy Mercier et de Adrienne Bernard. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil, son épouse, Patricia Lapointe, son fils Nathan Mercier, sa petite-fille Constance (qui va beaucoup manquer son pépére), son frère Luc Mercier (Cynthia Aubut), sa soeur Nadine Mercier (Shane Good), sa belle-mère Frances Lapointe, sa belle-soeur Nancy Black(Allen) et son beau-frère Garth Lapointe. Il laisse aussi ses neveux et nièces Jade Mercier, Jacob Mercier, Nolan Good et Layla Good, Jeremy, Danica(Dustin) et Kavin. Il laisse aussi 2 petits-neveux Dax et Weston et une petite-nièce Delilah. André a travaillé pendant plusieurs années aux bateaux comme débardeur à Dalhousie. Il était un avide chasseur, pêcheur et aimait surtout faire de la musique. Partout où André passait, il y laissait son empreinte et savait faire rire et égayer les gens par sa bonne humeur et ses chansons. Il a été guide pour la chasse à l'ours pendant quelques années. Un projet qu'il tenait à coeur était celui d'un mémorial qu'il voulait implanter à l'aéroport de Budworm City dans le South East pour commémorer le décès d'un pilote d'avion affecté à l'épandage de D.D.T. contre la tordeuse d'épinette. Ce pilote s'est écrasé en 1957 en laissant derrière lui sa femme et ses 6 garçons tous âgés de moins de 10 ans. André avait réussi à rejoindre quelques membres de cette famille de l'Oregon aux États-Unis et ceux-ci devaient venir pour une cérémonie en juin dernier mais dû à la pandémie du Covid-19, ils ont dû remettre ça. Il est à espérer que ça pourra un jour se réaliser que son rêve deviendra réalité! Tout en respectant les dernières volontés d'André et vû la pandémie qui sévit présentement, il n'y aura pas de visite au salon funéraire ni de service à l'Église.
