With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we remember a humble and generous man whose kindness touched countless lives. On Thursday, March 12,2026, EDWIN LYNN ROBINETTE passed away.
He was someone who would do anything for anyone—so long as it was the right thing to do. Guided by integrity, compassion, and faith, he lived a life rooted in service, family, and love.
A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy, completing two tours during the Vietnam War. His dedication to his country was a reflection of the quiet strength and sense of duty that defined him throughout his life.
His greatest love was his family, especially his beloved wife, Etta, with whom he shared 53 beautiful years of marriage. Their love story began in a way that family and friends never tired of hearing. When Etta was helping a friend with some rental apartments, she was asked to visit an apartment rented by Robbie and another Navy serviceman. When Robbie saw her for the first time, he ran out of the house, took one look at her, and declared, “I’m going to marry you.” True to his word, 53 years later their love remained as strong as ever.
He was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and purpose. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A deeply creative soul, he was both a poet and a musician. He authored a book of poetry titled The Poetry Carnival, capturing his reflections on life, faith, and the beauty he saw in the world around him. Music was another great passion. He played guitar and keyboard and wrote many songs over the years.
In August of 2025, he shared his gift with the community by composing a song for Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, written especially for the marching band. The school recognized and honored him for this generous and meaningful contribution.
He was also an active and proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose, organizations that reflected his lifelong commitment to fellowship, service, and community.
Above all, he was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus and lived his life guided by those beliefs. He believed wholeheartedly in kindness, compassion, and love for all people. His life was a testament to quiet goodness, creativity, faith, and devotion to those he loved.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the music and poetry he created, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Etta Robinette, sons Joseph, Chad and his wife Kathy, William, and his wife Jen, and Camren; cherished Grandad and TY TY to Brendan, Trista, Ethan, Summer, William Jr., Austin, Mary and Greyson. He is also survived by his siblings and other loving family and friends.
