It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clive Mervin Bredeson on October 30, 2022, at the age of 87. Clive was a devoted husband, loving dad, proud grandpa, and great grandpa. Clive will forever be remembered by his wife Elsie; daughters Jaynne (Dwight), Jenn (Al), Patty (Tim); Chris (Darrin), grandchildren; Michael (Kaiti), Marcus, Amiee (Spencer and great granddaughter Ivy), Garrett (Alyssa), Rachel (Taylor), Andrea, Kate (Austin), sisters-in-law Cathy Sinclair (Don), Irene Bredeson, brother-in-law Bill Sinclair (Doris) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Clive was born on July 28, 1935, in Barrhead, Alberta. He was the youngest of four children born to Brede and Lottie Bredeson. Clive grew up on a farm in the Mosside area, where he attended Beecliff school and then Craven school.
Clive married the love of his life Elsie, who he called his best girl, on April 10, 1959. Clive and Elsie farmed together first in Mosside until 1970, when they moved with their four daughters to a farm, they had bought in the Mystery Lake area. Clive worked off the farm on the pipeline, and as a carpenter, which was his absolute favorite. In 1984, they moved to Barrhead, and Clive worked at a sawmill as a lumber grader until his retirement at the age of 60.
In his retirement years, Clive enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, watching his grandchildren in whatever sport, dance or music recital, musical theatre production, or Christmas concert they were involved in and was also an avid gardener. Clive volunteered at the Barrhead Museum, was a volunteer, and member of the Senior Drop-In Centre where he participated in floor curling and carpet bowling and was also a member of the Barrhead Senior Versatiles Choir where he put his love of singing to good use.
We would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Barrhead Continuing Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rose Garden Chapel on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 1 pm followed by a private interment at the Agnes Memorial United Church Cemetery, Mosside Alberta
