Born on July 29, 1938, in Barrhead, Alberta, to Henry and Hazel (Frankson) Scheidt, Emi lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Emi was a strong, straightforward woman who was unapologetically herself. She spoke her mind honestly, stood firmly by her convictions, and always made her thoughts and feelings known. Her strength, determination, and authenticity were qualities admired by all who knew her.
Emi and Walter were blessed to share 65 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, respect, and partnership. Their bond only grew stronger with time. Together they raised a family, worked hard, and created a home filled with love and support.
To her children and grandchildren, Emi was much more than a wife and mother—she was the backbone of the family. While Walter spent countless hours on the road buying cattle, Emi kept everything running smoothly at home and at the feedlot. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring that her family was cared for and supported. She loved deeply and always encouraged those around her to become the very best versions of themselves.
Emi will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children: Brad (Michelle) Schmidt, Shelly (Bruce) Pusch and Gary (Lies) Schmidt. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Angelique (Kristian) & Lena Sawyshyn, Marguerite Schmidt, Justine (Marcus) Casey & Oscar Allen, Hanna (Spencer) Kade & Brin Voight, Matthew (Shanda Kaus) & Maison Pusch & Wacey Inglis, Desiree (Mathew), Jake, Emi & Jon Symon, Rebecca (Jordan) Liam & Easton Madarash, Stephanie (Marshall) Wesley, James & Albert Price, Alix (Brandon) & Carter Whiting, Eric (Stef) Schmidt. As well as her many nieces, nephews, and beloved Schmidt Family.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Emi has been reunited with Walter and Grant, whom she missed dearly. Her legacy of strength, honesty, resilience, and love will continue to live on through the generations of family she cherished so deeply.
A Celebration of Life and gathering will be held at 2pm on June 12 at Gary and Lies Schmidt's farm near Barrhead, Alberta.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Visser and the nursing staff at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre for all their compassionate care of Emi.
Memorial donations may be made to the Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary, Alberta Cancer Foundation or charity of choice.
