Mr. Emil Dietrich, of Cherhill, Alberta passed away January 24th, 2012, at the age of 92, at the Barrhead Hospital, after having suffered a fall.
Emil was born in Germany. He came to Canada in 1930 with his parents, Johan and Berta Dietrich, both originally from German Russia. Emil pursued extensive land clearing and mixed farming activities for many decades, and started raising sheep in the late 1970’s. He became well known in the industry, and was especially recognized as a producer of fine fiber wool. Emil was a very bright and personable individual. He will also be remembered for his resourcefulness, integrity, and sense of humor.
Emil was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, Albert and Edmund, and his sisters, Olga, Wanda, and Alma. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, and good friends. Emil will be sadly missed. Thanks are due to the Barrhead Hospital.
