Following a lengthy battle with dementia, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Mary (Schwab) Renfert on September 2, 2025 at 11:30 p.m. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Barrhead Continuing Care Centre. Eva was 86 years old.
Eva was born on April 6, 1939 in Meyronne, Saskatchewan, to Arthur and Elizabeth Schwab. She was the youngest of ten siblings and grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. After completing Grade 10, Eva ventured out on her own, demonstrating her independence and determination by leaving home early and acquiring a job at the bank.
Eva married Edward Belanger, and together they had a son, Kevin Belanger. Later in life, she met the love of her life, Robert Renfert, and they were blessed with a son, Jamie Renfert. Eva welcomed her new family with open arms and embraced her role as a grandmother to Robert’s three sons’ children. Over the years, her family grew, and she became a proud grandma again when her sons married and had six additional children. In total, Eva was a devoted mother to her two sons and a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Eva took great joy in gardening and was well-known for her beautiful garden. She was also passionate about cooking and baking, delighting family and friends with her home-cooked meals and goodies. Her favourite saying was, “cheese makes it good,” a phrase that will live on in the memories of all who knew her.
Eva is survived by her sons, Jamie (Mistie) Renfert & Kevin Belanger (Kaelie Huculak); stepsons, Wayne (Linda) Renfert, Glen (Linda) Renfert & Slim Renfert; grandchildren, Shilo (Darryle) Knutson, Cody (Robert) Lee, Clint (Kristina) Renfert, Jeff (Sid) Renfert, Randall Renfert, Seth Renfert, Faith (Jordan) Bos, Samuel Renfert, Jordan & Taylor Belanger, Samuel Huculak ; great grandchildren, Shelby, Victoria, Ella, Anders, Oliver Parker, Caleb, Liam, Blake, Jacob & Hannah Lee; and numerous family and many dear friends.

Eva will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, and her impact on those around her. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humour left a lasting impression on her family, friends, and community.
A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at 1PM on Saturday November 22, 2025 from Rose Garden Chapel. Live Streaming is available.
