Born on March 19, 1942, in Hamburg, Germany, Heike eventually made her home in Gunn, Alberta, Canada, where she built a life filled with family, friendships, and many cherished memories.
Heike shared 47 wonderful years with her loving partner, Gerald (Ged) Brent. Together they enjoyed many adventures and special moments, especially camping, fishing, and ice fishing. She also loved playing darts and watching curling.
Above all, Heike loved her family. Family get-togethers and holiday celebrations were some of her happiest times. She took great pride in preparing large traditional German meals and bringing everyone together around the table.
If you visited Mom's home, you could be sure you wouldn't leave hungry! She was a fantastic cook and baker, and there was always a delicious cake, pie, or dessert ready to be shared. Cooking and baking were her way of showing love, and those family meals and sweet treats will be memories treasured by everyone who had the pleasure of sharing them with her.
Heike also generously volunteered her time at the Onoway Legion and cooking at the Gunn Hall, sharing her talents and kindness with her community.
Heike leaves behind her loving partner of 47 years, Gerald (Ged) Brent; her two daughters, Liane Wenckowski (Randy Wenckowski) and Sylvia Potter (Richard Potter); eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Kyle Hoefels; her sister, Inge Wolski; her brother-in-law, Ervin Wolski; her mother, Emmie Hatschbach; and her father, Werner Hatschbach.
In her final moments, Heike was surrounded by those who loved her most. Her daughters, Liane and Sylvia, her partner Gerald, and a dear family friend stayed by her side until her very last breath. She was surrounded by love and was not alone.
In keeping with Heike's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, she wanted a private family gathering with those she loved, where her family can come together to remember her, share stories, and celebrate the life she lived.
Memorial Donations in Heike memory maybe made to Barrhead HCC Auxiliary (Barrhead Healthcare Center 4815 51 Ave Barrhead, AB T7N 1M1)
