It is with great sadness that the family of James Harold Tomalty announce his passing at age 64, on September 27, 2025. Born on April 11, 1961, in Lachute, Quebec, Harold was the beloved son of the late Arlene and James (Hap) Tomalty. He is also pre-deceased by his brother George Tomalty. He was known by most as Harold although his friends called him "Harry". He was a devoted father, Papa, and friend whose adventurous, wild, and fun-loving spirit defined his life. His family and friends could see that beyond his fiery exterior was a heart filled with passion and love for those closest to him.
He could fix anything with a motor, though motorcycles were his true passion. He was an athlete in his younger years and die-hard Toronto fan, he rarely missed a Blue Jays or Maple Leafs game. His loyalty extended beyond his personal passion for sports, he never missed cheering on his kids, nieces, nephews, or grandkids. Whether cheering from the stands or traveling the world—to Jamaica, Mexico, Arizona, Italy, or home to Quebec—his favorite place to be was with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashlyn Tomalty, his son, Connor Tomalty, and his sisters, Joanne(Barry) Scinski and Patty(Lyle) Chizma along with his adored grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A celebration of His life will be held on his birthday, April 11, 2026. Though not a religious man, he carried a coin engraved with the Tree of Life and an Irish prayer—a fitting symbol of his enduring strength and spirit. May Life give you...For every storm, a rainbow, For every tear, a smile, For every care, a promise, And a blessing for each trial. For every problem life sends, A faithful friend to share, For every sigh, a sweet song, And an answer for each prayer.
