It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leon (Leo) Adolf Schultz on September 1, 2025 at the Kier Continuing Care Centre in Barrhead. Born on July 6, 1936 on the family farm in Mosside, Alberta, Leo was one of 14 children. He attended Craven School in Mosside, and after finishing, split his time between farming and working on the oil rigs in Alberta and the Arctic to earn money so he could improve the farm. He also worked at, and later managed, the Barrhead District Seed Cleaning Company.
Leo married Kaye Schroeder in November 1973. They made their home on the farm in Mosside and it continued to be the center of family activities. His efforts were much appreciated by the family as he and Kaye also cared for and made it possible for Leo’s parents to remain living on the farm for many years.
Leo was very involved in the Mosside community and was always available to help friends and neighbours.
Leo was predeceased by his wife, Kaye, his parents, Sam & Wanda, brothers Etzee and baby Arthur, and sisters Mary and Vicki. He leaves to mourn his siblings Lil, Elmer, Herman, Elsie, Jerry, Rose, Carolyn, Linda and Christine, and their families, including many nieces and nephews with fond memories of visiting the farm.
The family wishes to thank Kory Kopf Hennessey for her unwavering and loving care of Leo in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mosside Hall, Kier Care, or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on September 26 at 11:00 am at the Rose Garden Chapel in Barrhead, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, and a luncheon at the Senior Citizens Drop In Centre at 12:30 pm.
