Merle Alice Nelson

Merle Alice Sharon Nelson of Barrhead, Alberta passed away on October 21, 2022 at the age of 81 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born on October 27, 1940 in Edmonton, Alberta to Gordon and Mary Stalker.

Merle was always active in her community and enjoyed life to the fullest. Family and visitors were always welcome to share a home cooked meal and a visit, sprinkled with a good serving of her never ending humour and wit. Merle especially enjoyed time spent at the fishing lodges in B.C. and Saskatchewan, camping, and travelling, as well as crafting, cooking, canning, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends, including the four-legged type. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to hearing about family adventures. During her years of cancer treatment Merle managed to make many beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

Merle is survived by her husband Blair and her four children Dawnita (Doug), Janice (Grant),Tracy (Tim) and Trevor, stepdaughter Debbie; her grandchildren Amanda (Amix), Andrew (Chantelle), Zachary (Jenna),Nicholas (Cyrene), Jeff (Alanna) and Kaila; great grandsons Ethan and Brayden. She was pre-deceased by brother William Stalker, sister Evelyn Stalker and stepsons Jamie Nelson and Cody Nelson.

At Merle’s request there will not be a memorial service. A celebration of life will be held with her immediate family. Please keep her memory in your heart.
