Richard (Dick) Gooby Padget of Barrhead passed away peacefully on November 9, 2018 at the age of 94. Dick was born in Campsie, Alberta on January 20, 1924. He grew up on the family farm in Tiger Lily and it was here that he met the love of his life, Freda Rolof.
Dick and Freda were married in Barrhead on June 24, 1951 and celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2016. He was predeceased by Freda in July, 2016.
Dick is lovingly remembered by his four children, Harvey (Bev) Padget, Connie (Tom) Sadler, Emily (Brad) Kummer and Diane (Stan) Neustaeter. He was blessed with seven granddaughters, Kelsey (Dylan) Styan, Kristin Padget, Justine Kummer, Alexa Kummer, Samantha Sadler, Brooklyn Neustaeter and Kennedy Neustaeter and one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Styan. He is survived by his sister, Laura (Alfred) Schlauch and brother Gordon (Joyce) Padget, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Evelyn Padget, brother, Henry Padget and sisters, Joan Werner and Irene Werner.
Dick enjoyed farming, hunting, camping and travelling to Northern Canada and Alaska.
The celebration of Dick’s life will be held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, 5410-53 Avenue, Barrhead on Saturday, November 17 at 1 pm. A reception will follow at the church.
Dick’s family would like to thank the staff of the Keir Continuing Care Centre for their care and Laura Schlauch for always being there for their father.
