Roy Edwin Goebel

Roy was born in Huallen Alberta to his home steading parents Valentine and Emilie Goebel. Roy attended school just outside of Wembley Alberta before leaving to embark upon a career in the oil and gas industry. Roy stayed in this industry thru his entire working career holding positions in Alberta and the North West Territories. He made a multitude of friends while working on drilling rigs, managing a mud company, selling drill bits and running his own rental fleet of trailers and pumps.

Roy was a fixer of things and a maker of deals. He rarely was without a project in the garage and was always horse trading with friends or family.

Roy met the love of his life, Joyce in 1957 and married in 1959. They raised their three children Lorraine, Carolyn and Leslie in Alberta towns including Swan Hills, Barrhead, Morinville and Whitecourt. He was especially proud of the acreage that he and Joyce built from scratch outside of Whitecourt and where they lived for 30 years before retiring to Barrhead in 2010.

Roy is pre-deceased by his loving wife Joyce, Parents Emilie and Valentine, eight siblings Clarence, Myrtle, Eveyln, Roland, Frieda, Elnora, Virginia and Floyd, his great grandson Jake, mother-in-law Yvonne Macintosh and sister-in-law Lois Lind. He is survived by his children Lorraine, Carolyn and Leslie (Alison). He will be great missed by his grand children Royce, Siann, Justin and Noel along with great grandchildren Savanah and Isabella. He is further survived by Sister-in-law Eva Gable, Sister-in-law Marge (Don) Schmaus as well as multitude of nieces and nephews. Roy will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
