Veronica Schroder (Lewiski) passed away suddenly on October 28, 2018 at the age of 69 years. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we say goodbye to our cherished and loved wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother and friend. She is predeceased by parents Steve and Mary Lewiski and brother Jerry. She is survived by her loving family; husband John of 40 years, her sisters Elaine (John Hall), Debbie Lewiski and sister in law Lorraine Lewiski (Jerry), two children John Schroder (Renee) and Frank Schroder (Teresa), four grandchildren Logan and Caylee (Frank/ Karen Schroder), Ellen and Laurel (John/Renee Schroder), and many nephews and nieces. Veronie was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years, loved life; family and flowers; enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for her love and care for all those around her. A celebration mass for Veronie will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 5210 – 50 Street, Barrhead, Alberta. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Veronie’s honor to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Mazankowski Heart Institute.

So sorry for your sudden loss John and family. I hoped to attend but our November weather changed my plans. I remember Veronica as being good to her students . I also remember her strength as she dealt with cancer and was able to come back to teaching. I know you two enjoyed each other and Veronica enjoyed her family . My thoughts are with you.

Having been part of Veronie’s life for 49 years, we have shared life’s ups and downs, cried together, laughed together, worked together, grieved together, and supported one another. I remember, happily, when we shared an apartment in Edmonton while in university and Veronie’s brother, Jerry, and my brother, Michael, were regular guests, especially at supper time! Later, we celebrated the good times while enjoying the sunset in Bucerias and sat cozily in front of the fire in their family room, talking about everything and anything. We partied around the backyard fire , and other times we sat around the dining room table toasting someone. Lots of fun was had at the kitchen table playing cards, eating diet popcorn, and listen to music from the 60’s. We have been blessed and we need to focus on the wonderful life we have had as we carry on in our own journey.
