2026. He was 70 years of age. He had spent nearly a year dealing
with an aggressive form of cancer.
Jeff’s particular loves were for the opera, the symphony, and on
occasion with his wife, the ballet and theater. He was a big fan of bluegrass music. He also loved to travel and had opportunities to
do so during his employment years and after his retirement.
Jeff spent 40+ years working in Logistics at International Paper
Company, starting out with them in Gardiner, Oregon and then
moving to Memphis, Tennessee. While in Gardiner, he was with the
IP-owned Longview, Portland and Northern Railroad.
Jeff met his wife, Jenness Kitchel Roth, while both were living in
Eugene, Oregon and a part of a singing group. They were married
51 years. He leaves Jenness, his sons, Nathan and Samuel (and
Sam’s caregiver, John Gold), a sister, Jill Roth McMillan, and his
stepmother, Mary. He leaves two nieces and a nephew and their children. He also will be missed by many colleagues and great
friends, including Jim Hanks, who helped care for Jeff in his last
months. He was a generous and uniquely thoughtful man who was
always willing to help those around him. For those qualities, he
was much loved.
A service in remembrance will be announced at a later date.
