

Ray was born on June 24, 1944, in New Albany, Mississippi, at Mayes-Shands hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Alton Miller; his mother, Junie Mae Johnson Miller; his brother, Thomas Miller; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Elizabeth Jordan Miller, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories. He is also survived by his brother, Vernon Miller; his sons, Donald Ray Miller (Cathy) and David Ray Miller (Leah); his grandsons, Hunter Ray Miller (Tram) and Jackson Reed Miller (Samantha); and his brother-in-law, Mike Ward (Kelly), along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Ray graduated from West Union High School and later moved to Memphis, where he built a long and honest career as a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He worked faithfully for ABF Freight until his retirement, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
On June 26, 1964, Ray married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Jordan. Together they built a home filled with commitment, resilience, and deep family bonds—a marriage that stood strong for over six decades.
Ray found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved bird hunting, watching the purple martins return to their birdhouses each year, taking trips to Tunica with his brother Vernon, and growing tomatoes every summer—always eager to share them with others. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and the care he showed through his actions more than words.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and family devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
