

Bernard was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 14, 1950 one of eight children born of Arlee & Clara Alexander. He graduated from Clintondale High School and then joined the Michigan State Police Academy. He went on to work for Sebro Plastics in Detroit for 29 years until he retired as a supervisor and also was an instructor in Plastic Technology at Macomb Community College. In 2000, Mr. Alexander and family moved to Tennessee and started a new adventure. He worked another five years in Tennessee in manufacturing as a supervisor before finally retiring.
He was Baptised at Zion Baptist Church in Clinton Township, Michigan at the young age of 15. Bernard was an avid hunter and fisherman and a gun collector. He loved his beagle dogs.
He met the love of his life, Gloria Jolley from Roseville, Michigan, and they have been together and married since August 21, 1971 at St. Angela Catholic Church in Roseville. Together they have three children; Markel Alexander (Lemuel) Mitchell, Napoleon Alexander and Steven Alexander; three grandchildren Kelsey Hartman, Zion Mitchell, Zachery Mitchell; Bernard is also survived by his mother Clara Alexander, his sisters Pamela Alexander Bell, Sheila Winbush, Sylvia Alexander (Cal) Higgins, Melissa Alexander Huff; and brother in law Keith Winbush. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with his father Bernard was also preceded in death by his sister Sarah Alexander, brother Harold Alexander, brother Albert Alexander, brother-in-law Brian Eric Huff, nephew Vincent Bell, and nephew Albert Alexander Jr.
