I remember Mr. Mac when I was a child.  You see he and my father were in the Navy together.  The first time I met Mr. Mac, I was very young and could not say McCarley, so from the on it was Mr. Mac.  Even though we didn't see each other for a while, when I was working I would often ask myself what would Mr. Mac do in a specific situation?  I was lucky enough to get reacquainted with Mr.  Mac and I will miss him dearly.  To his family my condolences and a suggestion to remember the good times.  Mr. Mac was always in my prayers and thoughts and so is his family now.

Mr. Mac will always be remembered - he was still on the sea when he walked the halls of the 12th floor at 201 Poplar.  He said that was from years at sea. He was the best purchaser of  the city Police vehicles, the bid packets were accurate and the vehicles purchased were always the exactly what was needed.


Granddaddy Bill loved racing three wheelers and he loved being around his grandkids. Jessie and I would spend a lot of time during our summers growing up in Memphis with Granny and Bill. They let us stay up late and we would watch old westerns and Granny's stories.  He loved my peanut butter and marshmallow crackers I would make us to snack on and our real Cokes to drink with a straw. We thought we were really big time. He took Jessie and I to our first Monster Jam, Amber to McDonalds to play and had to get her new shoes, talked a lot about four wheelers with Trav and he was TC's best friend. He always enjoyed a good laugh especially when it was because we had said or done something. We are so grateful for his love and the good times we shared together. He was the only granddaddy we ever knew and  he will be greatly missed by many. Thank God for sharing him with us for as long as he did. 

Mr. McCarley was a kind man whose work at MPD included the ordering of our police vehicles. He was very diligent and excellent in all ways in his job.  He spoke well of his family and other. To Beverly and all I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Billy is survived by his wife Mary Helen McCarley, Claude F. McCarley, Bruce W. McCarley, Beverly McCarley Berryman, his step-children; Rita Matocha, Anna L. Cates, Johnnie Johnson, Tolbert F. Cates III, one sister, Jean Good, ten grandchildren; Megan, Lanie, John, Becky, Jake, Katie, Jessie, Amber, Travis, T.C., and three great grandchildren; Jake, Rege, and Elizabeth.
