My Uncle Bob was a good man. I know my Mother respected & loved him. She would tell me stories of their childhood, under difficult circumstances, and how he had to grow up, be responsible, way sooner than anyone should. He was made of something remarkable.  I recall some rare visits, conversations with him (infrequent, though..seems Mom was the blacksheep). He had a way of being genuinely interested in your thoughts & views,  yet assessing at the same time, really trying to see you. Maybe the small time i got was some of his best effort..he could make you feel that way. He was  funny, in a self-depricating way, and smart humor, too! A great, inclusive, patient smile, letting you in on his private joke, and observing, waiting for it to sink in, waiting for you to get it. And his eyes would flash when you did! But  i don't think i ever saw him yearn or strive to be the center of attention, although he probably deserved it. God knows he earned it.
My Uncle Bob was a Good Man. And  I feel lucky to have had any time with him. He was remarkable. He made a difference to many.  And he's missed.


Bob was a wonderful neighbor.  Always  had a cheerful hello and joyful conversation.  He loved a good laugh.  I remember him coming outside to take a picture of my husband cutting the yard.  Yes, this was a rare and never seen event, worthy of a picture and a good laugh between us all!  Prayers for you Ouida, Rhonda, Tina and all of the family.
