Growing up with part of his family being Italian brought out Brantly’s love for good food. Frequent family meals with Grandma Terri’s cooking set the food standard high. He especially loved her lasagna as well as her spaghetti & meatballs. If he had a sweet tooth, his favorites included his Mom’s no bake cookies, key lime pie, and junior mints/peppermint patties. The Italian influence kept him on a constant search for a good plate of pasta especially if it could be accompanied by delicious seafood.
Brantly also had a passion for participating in sports as well as art, music and travel. He played in many team sports with his best friend Alejandro Salinas while attending St. Ann in Bartlett through elementary and middle school years and then football for a time at CBHS. As a teen, he also loved snow boarding with his cousins, Tyler, Wesley, & Caleb, in Michigan.
Throughout his life he enjoyed going to see plays at The Orpheum and Theatre Memphis with his Mother, Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, as well as other extended family and close friends. He was also passionate about live music performances, something that he enjoyed with his cousin Tyler.
Brantly also loved to travel and had many memorable trips that he enjoyed. Some of his favorites included countless camping trips with Uncle Gil & Alejandro; visiting the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone with Uncle Gil; visiting New York with his Grandpa & Grandma Burton; a FL trip with his Father; traveling up CA’s Hwy 1 to various cities with his mother for his 18th birthday; and traveling to India through a college program. Some of his favorite spots to travel were beach related, which is what inspired Tina and Brantly to say their wedding vows on the beach with the ocean as their witness and to move their family to a coastal city.
Recently, he was very proud of a sky diving adventure that friends encouraged him to take. He also still enjoyed working out at the gym, painting, collecting tapestries, going to concerts, and listening to music at home. Tool was his favorite band not only for the music but the album art work as well.
Brantly was most passionate though about his family and loved spending time at the park and beach with his daughter. Being a father is what he would say was his greatest joy and most worthwhile accomplishment. He truly loves his “baby girl.”
Brantly, you are loved by so many. You will never be forgotten.
We will always love you to the moon and back …. Tina & Athena
I love you infinity….Mom
May you finally find peace - I love you …. Dad
