Carl Hughlen Whitlock was born into this world September 2, 1932; and passed into the next life January 20, 2020. Carl is survived by his wife, Linda Rose Whitlock; his daughter Lynette Whitlock; his son, Dr. Richard Whitlock (wife Maura); his brother, Von Whitlock; and his step-children, Belinda Johnson (husband Ron) and William Rose, Jr. Carl also had 3 grand-children, 2 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jewel Whitlock; 3 sisters, Jesse White, Cathleen Bennett, and Twala Zawacki; and 1 brother, Albert Whitlock, Jr. He was retired from National Elevator where he worked as a service technician.
Some words used to describe Carl are respectful, kind-hearted, and generous. He would offer the very food he was eating to you if you “wanted some”. Carl loved watching nature shows on television and even delved in bird watching some. He enjoyed carpentry and building and had an eye for quality in the things he built. Among some of his childhood recreational activities was stealing watermelons; even a prize watermelon at one time.
Carl loved his family, he loved his wife, Linda, and they loved him. As a matter of fact, he proposed to Linda on their 2nd date.
Carl served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and for that we owe him a debt of gratitude.
A visitation for Carl will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 315 N Missouri St, West Memphis, AR 72301 with a funeral service to follow.
