Dale was born on September 14, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the oldest of three sons born to the late Lloyd & Frances Warder. He graduated from Ottumwa High School, then served his four years in the United States Navy. He then went to Missouri State College in Kirksville, Missouri where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in education majoring in chemistry. Even though he wanted to be a teacher his career path changed and he worked for twenty years for Bayer A.G. Chemical Company as a chemical engineer.
He was an avid woodworker and carver. Active in the Boy Scouts of America, loved to fish, and loved to cook especially grill. His true love was for teaching these skills to all of his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Warder's legacy is carried on through his wife of 48 years Patricia Warder; children Tina (Craig) Reed, Michelle Warder, Cathy (Jay) Starks, Susan (Mark) Irwin and John (Allison) Warder; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; his brothers Richard (Selena) Warder and Phillip (Dana) Warder.
