

Born on April 13,1935 in Hong Kong, China, David was the son of Wong Hing Wong and Lee Yuen Wah. He grew up in Hong Kong, then immigrated to West Memphis, AR in April 1987, and eventually moved to Memphis (Cordova), TN in 2000 where he worked at various companies including Ikes and Walgreens. He and his whole family proudly became American citizens in May 1992. He graduated from high school in Hong Kong. He loved his work, and he was dedicated to many clients he served over the years. He retired from Walgreens with 25 years of service in March 2013.
In June 1966, David married Olive Lam. They were happily married for almost 60 years, and built a beautiful life together, rooted in love and faith, as they raised their one daughter and two sons.
David was a devoted husband as well as a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Olive Wong; his children – Anita Wong Chu, Anthony (Amy Calleena), and Andrew (Sze Nga); and their 2 grandchildren – Gabriella and Michael Wong. He is also survived by his six brothers – Erac (Amy), Man Leung (Choi Kiu), Edmond (Lily), Herman (Pui Wah), Stanley (Yuen Wah), Kenneth (Daisy) and one sister, Wong Man Lai, many nephews and nieces, and many grandnephews and grandnieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wong Hing Wong, Lee Yuen Wah, and his two brothers, Arthur and Raymond, and son-in-law, David Chu.
David loved his family and his church. He was a devoted and faithful member of First Chinese Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. In addition to his friendly nature and his kindness, he will also be remembered for his strong work ethic which was evident in every aspect of his life. He also leaves behind a legacy of generosity. It always brought him joy to see his loved ones light up when opening gifts at Christmas time. David was a well-respected, wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and will be sorely missed.
There will be a visitation from 9 am to 10 am with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 10 am on Saturday, April 18 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Bartlett at 3700 N Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. Graveside service will immediately follow.
