Don was born May 15, 1940, in Humboldt, Tennessee, the son of John and Minnie Louise Gambill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James and sisters, Dean Lewis and Hope Williams.
Don graduated from West Memphis High School in 1958 and attended East Los Angeles College in California. He had a successful career as a salesman and found his fun job at Bass Pro Shop toward the end of his career. If you ever visited him at the store, you were greeted with a huge smile, great conversation, and excellent service.
Don was a gifted teacher and loved his time teaching classes at church for over 45 years. He truly enjoyed people and always saw the best in everyone. But his best times were traveling with his wife, visiting with his grandchildren, and laughing with friends. He had a knack for leaving everyone he met with a smile on their face.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Faye, his son Tony, his daughter-in-law Renee, and his grandchildren Harmon, Holden, and Ella Rae.
He was a member of the Oliver Creek Church of Christ, and he loved his Church family.
The family requests that memorials be directed to AGAPE Child and Family Services of Memphis or HopeWorks of Memphis.
