Dorothy May Stewart, 95, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Dorothy, daughter of Eugene and Beatrice Robinson, was born on January 8, 1927, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dorothy married James Emmett Stewart Sr. on August 25, 1950. Dorothy spent the majority of her married life being a homemaker. She was the mother to James Emmett Stewart Jr. and Susan Marie Rueschhoff. Both her husband and son preceded her in death. James Stewart Sr. passed away on November 29, 1980, and their son James Stewart Jr. passed away on February 9, 2019. She had 5 brothers and sisters who also preceded her in death. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in the Memphis Second Ward.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Susan, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
In a celebration of her life, there will be a visitation at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd in Bartlett, TN. Visitation and a reception will be from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday February 16, 2022. The service will begin at 2pm and it will be followed at the graveside. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her loving husband in Memorial Gardens.
