Edward Stanley Sharrow, 91 of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023. He was born July 7, 1932 in Algonac, Michigan and was adopted by his grandparents in 1942, Henry and Lucy Sharrow. He graduated from Algonac High School in Michigan. He continued his education in the Marines and even taught some course near the end of his enlistment.
Edward joined the Marine Corp soon after high school. He served in Korea twice and in Vietnam twice. Also during his military career he participated in the Atomic Bomb Maneuvers in Nevada. Beside the bases he served at in the U. S., he also was in Hawaii, Formosa, Japan, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. After serving 21 years he retired as a Captain in 1970.
Not one to sit idle, he worked at a variety of jobs in his civilian life and eventually found his calling in warehouse management. He retired from Patterson Warehouses. He enjoyed being a Tennessee Master Gardener, a volunteer at Lichterman Nature Center, A 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and his Intarsia and Scroll Saw woodwork pieces won many awards at the Mid-South and Delta Fairs. He enjoyed Country/Western couples and line dancing as well as being a member of the Greater Memphis Square and Round Dance Association.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Virginia Sharrow Liskey; grandparents, Henry and Lucy Sharrow and four siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Curry Sharrow; Children: Robert (Barbara) Sharrow, San Antonio, TX; Patrice Gregory, Memphis; Kevin Sharrow, Memphis; Lauren Hesse (deceased); brother-in-law, Tim Curry and wife Kathy Ladner, Grandchildren: Brianne Jett and Lindsey Parenica in San Antonio, TX; Alex Gregory, Memphis; three Great-Grandchildren in San Antonio, TX. And four siblings from Canada.
A gathering of family and friends for Edward will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5475 Newberry Ave, Memphis, TN 38115, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
