Florence Joy Batte, 71, of Bartlett passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett. She was a graduate of University of Tennessee-Martin where she received her bachelors, a graduate of Memphis State University where she received her masters, was a school teacher and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Joy was an active member of Brunswick Baptist Church and loved volunteering in her community. She is survived by her brothers, Laurance E. Jr. (Pat) Batte and William B. (Bonnie) Batte all of Bartlett; sister, Zeni B. (Will) Schleter of Knoxville, TN; nephews, Ward Batte and John (Angela) Batte; nieces, Zeni Schleter and Amy (Andrew) Eslinger. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN 38133 with the interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Brunswick Baptist Church, 5079 Brunswick Rd, Arlington, TN 38002.
