Fran was born in August 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina however lived most of her life in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from White Station High School in 1966 and went to work for South Central Bell after graduation. It was at South Central Bell she met her husband of almost 53 years, James Edward (Eddie) Smith. She worked for the “Phone Company” for 30+ years in various roles including Dispatcher and Customer Service until her retirement in 1999. Fran was known for being the “life of the party, hostess with the mostest, a great cook, and the best gift giver ever”.
She is survived by her husband James E. Smith (Eddie), her sister Paulette A. Ferguson and brother James Gary (Gary) Henderson, her daughters Michelle Smith Harwell and Jennifer Smith Burns, (4) grandchildren Adam Dean Harwell (21), Brooke Elizabeth Harwell (19), Carter Bennett Burns (16), Christian Curry (17), and her “Bonus” family of friends.
Fran requested to be cremated and will have a small family service and be buried at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
