He proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Serving tours in England, Hawaii and two tours in Vietnam. Although he retired after 20 years, anyone who knew him never doubted that a true Marine he was. He never left his home without one of his hundreds of Marine Corp caps on his head and wife, Valerie on his arm. Dad always loved saying how proud he was of "his" three daughters (but Mom lovingly reminded him they were hers too).
One of his favorite past-times started in 1961, was his love of bowling. He started in leagues twice a week until the last year of his life, he bowled three times a week. Which lead to one of his greatest moments, he saved a fellow bowlers life with CPR and then bowled a 300 game. Another talent our father had was working with his hands, whether it was building additions to his house, toys for his kids, laying cement walkways and patios. Our Dad could build just about anything he put his mind to. Later in life he enjoyed being outdoors sitting with his wife.
