He graduated from Waverly Central High school in Waverly, Tennessee, and was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. He retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) with many years of service.
He then enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at Enid Lake, which led to some wonderful stories that were always a bit over the top. Nick loved and was loved by all who knew him. This was evident by the music filled pool parties at his home. He had a love for having a good time and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merriman Bela and Grace Moore McCaleb; his wife, Peggy Ann McCaleb; his siblings, Naomi Waggoner, Pauline Stewart, Jean Bethshears, Georgia Price, Jim McCaleb, Betty Lou McNeil, and Harrell McCaleb.
Nick is survived by family who all who loved him, son Matthew Bela McCaleb of Coldwater, Mississippi, and his children, Morgan Paige Stubbs and Dakota Blake Woods; son, Benjamin Nicholas McCaleb and his wife Angela McCaleb, their children, Savannah Grace McCaleb, Benjamin Nicholas McCaleb Jr., and Trace Andrew McCaleb, all residing in Southaven. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday May 27 from 12 noon until service time. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to St.Jude or Shriner's Hospital for children in Shreveport, Lousianna, in his honor.
