Homer Gene Whitehead, age 81, of Eads, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born March 9, 1940 in Senath, MO to the late Roland Clyde "Doey" and Marie Whitehead. Gene graduated from Arbyrd High School in 1959. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served at the Fort Carson Base in Colorado. While in Colorado he met Kaye Woodward and they got married February 14 1964. They were married for 57 years and settled in Memphis, TN. Once they moved to Memphis Gene became a member of the Memphis Alcymia Shriners, the Chevy Club, and the Men's Wednesday night prayer group. Through out his career he worked at Lion Oil Company and then he branched off to start his own successful oil company, Whitehead Oil Company.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Crocker.
Gene is survived by his Wife, Kaye, their children; Doug Whitehead (Rhonda) and Cindy Whitehead (Sam), 4 grandchildren; Alana, Sara, Keeley and Alexis.
A gathering of family and friends for Homer will be held Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 followed by celebration of life service at at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Kennett Memorial Gardens, 1724 Southwest Dr, Kennett, MO 63857.
