James Robert Carson

James Robert 'Jimmy' Carson, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 9, 2017 in Bartlett, Tennessee. Born on October 27, 1934, he resided in Memphis for his entire life. He graduated from Bolton High School. He was a retired air traffic controller and was a board member of the FAA Credit Union for many years. He had a lifelong love of sports and was a devoted participant in the Senior Olympics; he received Best Male Athlete honors five years in a row. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Carson and Mabel Collum Rish; his wife Marie Carson; his son James Robert Carson, Jr.; and his sister Donna Risner. He is survived by his daughters Blandy Lawrence (Steve) and Andrea Fulkerson (Todd); his son Kevin Carson (Makie); and his grandchildren Brittany Matlock (Dave), Brooksey Mead (Les), Lily Fulkerson, and Savannah Fulkerson; his five great-grandchildren; and his sisters Bobby Jean Hall and Rebecca Krieger and brother Robert Lee Carson, Jr. A service in memory of Jim’s life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 North Germantown Rd. in Bartlett, Tennessee on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
