Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Linda Sue Clanton, two fiercely loved children, a daughter April Dawn Clanton and her fiance' Brian Rodgers, a son Christopher Shane Clanton, and two precious granddaughters Macy Elise Clanton and Maddie Jaymes Clanton.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Wade Nelson Clanton and wife Katherine Clanton, mother Lois Willie Rumsey, brother Richard Clanton, and a very loved grandmother Cordie Clanton.
He is also survived by by a brother Jerry Clanton and wife Carol, sisters Pat York and Lisa Green and husband Bobby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jimmy grew up in Memphis, TN, he loved playing pool, boating and all sports. Jimmy opened and owned a very successful business Southern Automotive of Bartlett, TN. Jimmy was sometimes called "Emmet", like he could usually fix anything! Since retirement he customized golf carts, he took great joy when he delivered the carts to his customers and saw their faces. All of them loved them! Jimmy loved giving a helping hand to friends and loved ones. His family would like to thank all their friends and extended family for all the love and out pouring of sympathy during this time.
A gathering of family and friends for Jimmy will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM. A private interment will be held at Memphis Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN 38133.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to St. Jude.
